English speaking psychologist in Aarhus

My clients find it helpful to become conscious of bilateral cultural "blind spots" when getting settled for shorter or longer periods of time in Denmark.

From my office in central Aarhus, I offer psychotherapy, education, and workshops focused on a wide variety of psychological areas. Besides robust experience in treating stress, anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem, I have special knowledge regarding diabetes and work psychology.

I have a Master degree in psychology (MSc in Psychology) and am authorized by the Danish Supervisory Board of Psychological Practice under the Social Ministery. Further, I have educated myself in various therapeutical methods, taking a 2-year specialization i Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (see below).

Having travelled and lived in multiple countries, I am fluent in spoken and written English (as well as in Dutch and Danish). My broad multi-cultural knowledge and long experience in treating expats in my practice, has brought me a strong insight into how Danish culture is seen with foreign eyes - and vice versa. Generally, my clients find it helpful to become conscious of bilateral cultural "blind spots" when getting settled for shorter or longer periods of time in Denmark.

Some clients find til difficult to navigate the Danish health care system, when it comes to psychotherapy. To help you on your way, I wrote this blog post, that you might find helpful:
The Danish health care system - regarding psychotherapy.

My products are based upon robust and empirically supported methods. Mainly, my approach is based upon Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which is part of the so-called 'third wave' of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). My main focus is on helping my clients clarify their personal values and to take action on them. I help defining and maintaining the direction the individual or group wants to take in their lives and work, while recognizing and constructively dealing with difficult feelings, thoughts and reactions that are seen as challenging along the way.

With a co-professional, I have written a Danish book on how to deal with your own difficult emotions and thoughts as a help professional or manager.
